Beginner's Guide to GTA Online

Welcome to Los Santos! If you're new to GTA Online, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know to get started the right way.

1. Complete the Tutorial & Initial Contact Missions

After creating your character, you'll complete a basic tutorial. It's important to follow this for an introduction to movement, shooting, driving, and mission flow.

2. Earning Your First Money

Start with contact missions and activities like races and time trials. Once you have around $200,000, you can begin looking into basic businesses like the Top 10 Businesses list.

3. Invest in a High-End Apartment

Buying an apartment (like Del Perro Heights or Eclipse Towers) gives you access to Heists. Heists are one of the best ways to make money, especially early. Learn more in our Heist Guide.

4. Save for a CEO Office or MC Clubhouse

Both offer business options that generate passive or active income. CEO work leads to crate missions and vehicle cargo. MC gives access to drug labs. Read our Business Overview for more.

5. Get a Good Vehicle

A fast car or armored vehicle like the Kuruma or Oppressor Mk II will make missions much easier. See our Vehicle Tier List for recommendations.

6. Don’t Ignore Daily Objectives

They reward up to $25,000 per day and bonuses if completed consecutively.

7. Use Invite-Only Sessions to Avoid Griefers

You can do most business solo in private lobbies. Public lobbies aren't always safe or efficient.
